# Code Sections

Code sections are the primary retrieval unit in v1.

A code section combines:

* Structural identity and citation metadata
* Current or effective text
* Official source links
* Connected ordinance and lineage context

Code-section-centric search is also in v1 scope via `GET /v1/search`.

For prospects and product buyers, code sections are where LocalCode demonstrates traceability: not just section text, but the legal context behind it.

## For developers

Developer-facing implementation composes section identity, versioned text, and source-link records from multiple internal data surfaces.
