# Jurisdictions

Jurisdictions are top-level containers for LocalCode legal data coverage.

Each jurisdiction provides a stable boundary for search, retrieval, and provenance context.

Common fields include:

* `jurisdiction_id`
* `name`
* `state`
* `short_code`
* `is_active`

For buyers and prospects, jurisdictions answer a practical question: where LocalCode can currently provide traceable legal intelligence.

## For developers

Developer-facing implementation currently reads jurisdiction metadata from a view-backed projection of canonical jurisdiction records.
